| ABOVE: Several carapaces, all preserved upside-down, of Hughmilleria socialis and associated eurypterid parts on a slab of Pittsford Shale (CIURCA 120903-14). The slab was removed from the lowest Pittsford Shale ('slate bed'). The bean-shaped objects in the photo are ostracods. This mass of eurypterid debris was no doubt assembled during a Silurian storm in relatively shallow water de- posits. Note abundant tergites and the coxae. Additional photos to follow..... |
