Ice Volcanoes 4

Two great views of the Ice Volcanoes of the south shore of Lake Ontario. In the lower photo, some 'brave' soul is heading for "The Nostril." Note the floating ice in the background that has been broken off of the ice sheet that forms along the shoreline during Winter. Depending upon the direction of the winds, onshore or offshore, the ice is either carried way out into the lake, or returns to the shore to be piled up again and frozen into an ice breccia.
