ABOVE: Massive stromatoporoidal limestone, referred to as the Cobleskill Limestone, along the banks of Owasco Outlet, North of Auburn, New York.  Here, eurypterids occur in various horizons both above and below these massive limestone beds.  Bedding is irregular and fossils difficult to extract. Presumably this limestone is identical to part of the limestone exposed on Frontenac Island to the South. where fossiliferous limestone is both overlain and underlain by eurypterid-bearing dolostone. The white area at the bottom of the photo is the waterline.
