| AT LEFT: Section exposed in a quarry wall of the upper Fiddlers Green Formation, Bertie Group. The hammer rests upon the top of the Victor Dolostone which bears meter-scale stromatoliets. Above the hammer are the waterlimes of the eurypterid-rich Ellicott Creek Breccia, the uppermost unit of the Fiddlers Green Formation in this region. The Fiddlers Green Formation, about 25 feet thick, belongs to the Eurypterus remipes Zone. Higher up in the quarry, the Williams- ville Waterlime occurs, belonging to the younger Eurypterus lacustris Zone. The Black Shale Marker Bed separates the two unts in this region. Eastwrd, this contact can be recognized at Ellicott Creek at Williams- ville, New York. |
