Note that most of the carbonized integument is preserved on the cast. The width of the carapace, at base, is 7.5 cm. Had the cast
weathered away, the impression in the waterlime, a type of fine-grained dolostone and much more resistant to weathering, would have
survived.

Pterygotid Ramus CIURCA 122306-1 ENLARGED

a few specimens of pterygotid remains, usually telsons and an occasional ramus. The pterygotids were, obviously, carnivores and it
seems likely that Hughmilleria, so prolifically present in the Pittsford fauna, was its prey. In recent years, a lot more has been learned
about the pterygotids of the Vernon Formation and publications are forthcoming. This is such a fascinating group of animals to study.
